What is a feasibility "spike" test?

Simply put, it is a test of the current state of technology.

We drill down to the most basic core complexity of a problem, and come up with a raw solution. These raw solutions can be used as prototypes for future investment or work as proof's of concept that illuminate the feasibility of perusing a production level solution.
